Who are we ?
CBI is a leading consultancy firm specializing in the areas of environment and development with a focus on improved governance and management. We work with various clients in industry, environment, housing, women development, water resources, rural development, irrigation, tourism, education, etc. The firm implements projects that require direct field engagement with clients and partners from various tiers of government, NGOs, CDAs, private sector and other elements of civil society. We develop and deliver case-specific packages of capacity building, institutional reform and business development that ensures sustainability of impacts and solutions. More frequently, this line of work requires policy and systems reform and operating as a catalyst among policy and implementation stakeholders across various sectors and levels of government.
CBI Mission
The focus of CBI’s work is on details of implementation. This makes us concerned about root causes or systemic problems, as opposed to symptoms. We work in partnership with our clients to unveil such root causes and develop scenarios of policy and system change taking into considerations various limitations and criteria that are intrinsic to the client. CBI’s methodology stresses attention to specificities of situations and conditions governing our clients.
Our in-depth approach makes us especially well suited to projects that require attention to a range of interrelated technological, fiscal, regulatory and organizational issues in a particular case. We work on strategic, policy and operational levels. In addition, we excel in monitoring, evaluation and developing exit strategies of complex and large projects. We were invited to evaluate a number of large projects funded by international donors and external support agencies such as UNDP, the Government of Italy, CIDA, FAO, and UN-Habitat, inside and outside Egypt, among others.

Our senior experts enjoy wide networks of contacts in international organizations, national and local Governments and the private sector. We are actively working in partnership with elements of the civil society and NGOs to develop initiatives and mobilize resources for capacity building programs.
CBI core staff brings to bear hands-on experience in local governance, decentralization, economic governance, business, procurement, financial management, social development, citizen engagement, strategic planning, and support to small and medium enterprises (SMEs). Participatory approaches, change management and institutional development are cross cutting themes in our work. We have a group of world class professionals in Egypt, and shared experience from the US and Europe. We are committed to learning, and respect to local traditions and cultures.
